Consultant Physician

Dr. Rachel Bennett

MD, Board Certified in Endocrinology · TX License #ME124578

Dr. Rachel Bennett is a consultant physician specialising in obesity and metabolic medicine, with twelve years of clinical experience treating weight-related conditions in Austin. After completing her MD and residency in Internal Medicine, she trained further in obesity medicine, focusing on the hormonal and metabolic drivers of weight gain — not willpower. She built Landry Consultant on a simple principle: obesity is a chronic medical condition that deserves the same clinical rigour as diabetes or hypertension. Dr. Bennett has treated over four thousand patients, including many referred by other physicians for complex cases involving thyroid disorders, PCOS, and diabetes-linked weight gain. She sees patients by appointment, Monday through Saturday, at her Austin clinic.

  • MD, Board Certified in Endocrinology & Metabolic Medicine
  • Member, The Obesity Society
  • 12+ years treating weight-related metabolic conditions
About the clinic

What patients say

“Dr. Bennett was the first doctor who explained why I'd struggled with my weight for years instead of just telling me to eat less. The plan she built actually fits my life.”

— Sarah K., verified patient

“Professional from the first call to the follow-up visits. No judgement, no pressure — just a clear plan and someone checking in on how it's actually going.”

— Michael T., verified patient

“I'd been to two other clinics before this one. This was the first time someone ran proper tests before suggesting anything, which made me trust the whole process.”

— Jennifer M., verified patient

“The follow-up appointments made the difference for me. It's not a one-time consultation — someone is actually tracking progress and adjusting the plan every few weeks.”

— David R., verified patient

Common questions

Yes. Obesity is recognised as a chronic medical condition influenced by genetics, hormones, metabolism, medications and environment — not simply a lack of willpower. That's why it's assessed and treated medically at Landry Consultant, the same way any other chronic condition would be managed, with ongoing monitoring rather than a one-time fix.

Your first visit is a full medical assessment: a review of your history and current medications, a physical examination, and baseline measurements such as weight, waist circumference and blood pressure. Dr. Bennett will discuss findings with you directly and outline whether further tests or a treatment plan are appropriate. The visit typically runs 40–50 minutes.

Medical therapy is prescribed where clinically appropriate, based on your history, examination and any lab results. It is never the automatic first step, and not every patient is a suitable candidate. Any prescribed treatment is monitored by Dr. Bennett at scheduled follow-up visits for effect and tolerability.

Only where clinically indicated. If your history or examination suggests a thyroid, insulin resistance or hormonal factor may be contributing to your weight, Dr. Bennett will recommend targeted lab work and go through the results with you in plain language at your next visit.
